Macbeth Act 2 Review

1. In your opinion, is Lady Macbeth a cold-blooded murderer? Why or why not?
Lady Macbeth isa cold-blooded murderer because she had no problem killing the two servants and also said that if Duncan didnt look like her father while he was asleep, she would have also killed him herself.
"I left the daggers ready. He couldnt miss them. If Duncan hadnt looked like my father in his sleep, I'd have done it myself. 2-2-10-pg.73
"Coward! Give me the daggers! Sleeping and dead eople are like pictures of themselves.Only children fear a picture, even of the devil. If he's bleeding, I'll smear the faces of the servants so it will look as if they did it." 2-2-53-pg.73
2. Lady Macbeth has her own antics throughout the play. Why does Lady Macbeth faint in Act II?
Does it serve its purpose? Explain.
Lady Macbeth acts as if she had fainted in Act 2 to fool the others into thinking that she and Macbeth are innocent. Like any usual lady response to hearing a murder had occurred while asleep, it should immediately sicken one's stomach, so which is why its strategically where lady Macbeth fakes her stunt. This helps decrease the chances of both being suspected for Duncans murder.

"Lets return to our bedroom. A little water will wash all traces of the deed. Then it will be easy. Youve lost youre nerve! Listen- more knocking. Put on your nightgown, in case we're called, and seen to be out of bed. And dont get so lost in thought! 2-2-66-pg.75

"Whats the matter, that such a fearful  alarm should summon our guests from sleep? Speak, Speak!" 2-3-85-pg.81

"Oh, no1 What? In our house?" 2-3-94-pg.83

3. How does Macbeth's attitude toward Duncan change after the murder?

Macbeth regrets his actions and ultimately feels guilty for the lie he is about to be caught up in.

"I wont go back! Im afraid to think of what Ive done. I darent look at it again! 2-2-51-pg. 73

"Whats happened to me, that every noise scares me? Whose hands are these? Theyre plucking my eyes out! Is there enough water in the oceans to wash my hands of this blood? No! More likely my hands will staian the vast green seas blood- red." 2-2-58-pg.73

"If I had died an our before this happened, I'd have lived a blessed life span. From now on, theres nothing left worth living for. Everything is a sham. Honor and dignity are dead. the wine of life has gone. Only the dregs remain." 2-23-98-pg.83

4. If so pressuring on Macbeth, why didn't Lady Macbeth kill the king instead of Macbeth?

Lady Macbeth didnt kill the king instead of Macbeth because she wants him to step up and do something to prove his worthy of owning the throne by taking it away from the current ruler. Since Macbeth is the one who killed Duncan, he wont be able to back out so easily since he was the one who committed the crime. This gives Lady Macbeth the advantage of being the boss.

"Are you afraid to match your actions with your ambitions? Can you want the glittering prize - the crown - yet be a self confessed coward?" 1-40-42-pg. 57

5. Now that Macbeth has killed the king, do you think he must do anything else to reign as king? Explain your answer.

I think Macbeth will still have to do unmoral things to reign as king after this crime he had committed because others will find out the truth or he will fear more often and will  have to get rid of them before the they reveal it to take him out of reign.
